Last week my friend Val, Nolan's mom, had the week off from work so we had some playtime with the kiddos. Nolan and Lila are only a few days apart, in fact, Nolan was born on L's due date. Here are a few pictures of them these days:
On Saturday we went to the Marin Country Mart Farmer's Market. Lila and William rode the carousel together, and Aunt Molly and Ian helped Lila design a place mat.
Since Lila loves the (real) binoculars that Amma bought us, we got her a set of her very own (pink plastic!). She loves to explore with them. Here she is out on a walk with Cara.
On Sunday Ian and I took Lila to open gym at gymnastics. She has amazing core strength - see below!
I forgot to post this sweet picture of Ian and Lila on the carousel. They shared a carriage and had a great time! Notice Lila is wearing a different outfit than the earlier photos. This is because she wanted to go back the next day for more!
We drove down to LA for the long weekend. Lila was a trooper during the 6 hour car ride, and loved playing on the beach all weekend. She also rode the carousel at the Santa Monica Pier ("mas!") It was very fast, but I tried to capture her while riding. She also checked out the game room and rode a fun car ('vroom vroom!"). On the way home we stopped at Inn n Out. Lila was so cute, saying hello to everyone and wearing her little hat.
Thank you for all of Lila's fun Valentine's cards, gifts, and flowers! She loved making Valentine cards for everyone, and has been talking about hugs, hearts and love :) William's mom, Nashara, is a great photographer, and asked me to set up a Valentine breakfast date for L and W. She took amazing pictures, and more importantly, Lila and William had fun eating their yogurt parfaits and playing chase. Here are some pictures:
We had a great time at preschool mommy and me today. Lila painted a lot, and didn't want to leave! It was such a beautiful day, and after all the other kids in her class went home, Lila was still running laps around the yard.
Lila went to the Valentine's Fair at the Marin Country Mart on Saturday. She had her face painted for the first time, and took it very seriously when the woman said "hold still!" - she sat so patiently. Lila chose to have a heart painted and keeps saying "heart!" now. She also posed for a picture in an old fashioned board with William. She wasn't really sure what was going on, but it's still so cute!
Daddy's friend Chris Edgar is in town. His wife and kids are home in the snow, and Chris is here to visit with Ian and Josh, see some music, and a little bit of work :) Lila had a great time hanging out with Chris and Josh, and kept saying "Josh" at bedtime. So sweet.
This morning we had an early AM playdate with William, then in the afternoon Lila went to Fairy Tale Time at the Discovery museum. She went on a nature walk, and each child was given a basket to collect sticks, flowers, and other materials to make a magic wand. Cara said that Lila especially loved chasing after the big kids!
Lila often wakes up so early that by 6:30am, we've already baked, painted, AND played tag! This morning she made some valentines. This afternoon we played in the sandbox for a while, burying our feet and making pie. Here's a video of Lila baking her daddy a pie for his birthday. Happy Birthday, Ian!
It was another very sunny day in Marin. Lila and I played outside a lot, exploring our shadows. Closer, bigger, smaller, taller - we made them all. At one point, Lila started smiling and making faces. I realized she was trying to see her reflection, like she does in the mirror :) I love watching her learn and discover!
Lila had a wonderful time with her aunt and grandparents this past weekend! We went on a walk by the water, to the museum, farmer's market, playground, San Francisco - and in between, lots of coloring and jumping on the bed at home! Thanks for a great visit :)
