VW Camper Tents

Lila and William bought each other VW camper tents for their birthday gifts. We set them up on our deck, and they had the best time running back and forth and hiding out in their tents. We can't wait to bring these to the beach!

Weekend with Daddy

I went hiking in Utah for my first girl's trip since Lila was born. While I was so sad to leave Lila, she had a great time with daddy and Cara. She had a play date with Duke, went to Train Town, Fairyland, the park, dinner with Molly and Eric, etc. As Ian said "Her dance card is full!"

Here she is after a "tiny pool" swim and playing store at the park with Cara. I had to include a photo of me, so you all see that I truly did go away-ha!

Pretend Play

I may have posted this before, but Lila is really into dress up and pretend play these days. Lucky for us, a new space just opened up in San Rafael called "Jack and Jill". It's a big play space with a stage, dress up area, kitchen, train room, mini library, etc. It opens at 8:30am, (woo hoo!), as you know I am always looking for early AM activities! This morning Lila was so pleased with the outfit she chose to dress up in, she ran over to show the owner. She just loves this place!

Things That Go

Lila is really into riding toys lately. She loves her scooter from Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Debby, and showed a real interest in tricycles at mommy and me preschool today. Here she is riding around with William.

Evie's big sister  (Katie) came to class today since she didn't have school, and the kiddos went crazy for her.  She was rocking them on the boat, playing ball and singing songs.  They loved her!

Lila likes the easel, but so far she usually only paints a few strokes before moving on to another activity. She's BUSY :)

Lila has been talking in phrases, and she's pretty close to complete sentences. Lately she's been telling us when something "doesn't work, is broken" or when she wants to join us "Lila come too" It's so cute!  Some other recent phrases:
 "two times books"
"two times Elmo"
 "two times AB song"
"Daddy help Lila"
"Lila William's house"
"Lila no park"
"Lila yes whee" (slide)
"Mommy play Lila"
and she copies every single word we say. I'll let you know when she says a complete sentence!

She is starting to show some interest in the potty, and we often go in to the bathroom and she will sit on the toilet and read and wait. When she does pee or poop on the potty, even just a little, she jumps up, yells "yay!" and gives me a high five. Pretty cute :)

First Haircut

Today Lila had her very first haircut! Ian loves his hairdresser, Julia, and so we knew when the time came, we'd bring Lila to her salon in Sausalito. Lila first watched daddy get a trim while we waited on a cozy couch. She was so excited and asked, "Lila's turn", and then it was her turn! I kept the few beautiful curls that Julia cut.  The other people in the salon said Lila looked like the baby model from the Ivory Snow ads in the 70s. She was so cute - bouncing around with her freshly cut curls :) Here are some pictures:

Pig Tails and Nails!

Last summer we were in an airport and Lila was in awe of the women working in the Xpress Spa salon. Now, every time we walk by a manicure spot, Lila asks "Lila's turn?" Well, on Monday it was her turn. Amma and I took Lila to get her nails painted, where the women there loved her and gave her a birthday crown! Then we headed out for our version of a ladies lunch with a toddler - a quick juice and a super fast burrito. Lila had so much fun, and we had fun watching her!

Birthday Girl

What a weekend! Mimmie and Pops arrived and immediately took Lila on a visit to the Discovery Museum. The next day, Amma came and then we all headed up to Sonoma for some fun at Train Town, a very old town for tiny people. There was a train that took us through the lovely grounds, to a petting zoo and miniature town, then back out front to ride the carousel. Lila LOVED Train Town. See below!

Next up, a birthday breakfast at the house for a few of Lila's friends. She and William had a fun time jumping on her new trampoline (thanks, Mimmie and Pops!) and playing tickle monster! Even though we had everything set up inside for cake, Lila requested we sit outside to eat it. It was definitely a beautiful day!

On Sunday, Lila's actual bday, she opened her scooter from Grandma Debby and Grandpa Jeff and was BEYOND excited! We tought we'd spend some time teaching her to scoot in the street before heading out, but she was a natural and we went to Blackie's Pasture where she scooted and played chase with Presley and Duke (and daddy!).

After all of this excitement, we headed to Picco for some pizza. Lila and daddy shared a burrata/asparagus/fava bean dish. She LOVED it! Then pizza and some ice cream to celebrate! It was a very special birthday :)

Zoo and Pretend Play

We celebrated William and Lila turning 2 by taking them to the zoo. Nashara brought lollipops, so that was the highlight for Lila (her first!). Lila also LOVED riding on the train and carousel. I don't have any pictures of either, as Ian and I were on both of the rides as well. Next time!

Lila LOVES pretend play. At our mommy and me preschool class she has been really into the car garage and dress up area lately. At home, she has also been dressing up - in mommy's shoes and shirts, and in Lila's tutu and wings.
